Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Special and Elementary education from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 2005 and a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston in 2010. She offers counseling and assessment for children,adolescents, and their families and will work under the supervision of Kevin Glasser, LPC-Supervisor, while completing her internship. After graduating from the University of Missouri St. Louis, Michelle moved to Texas and began working as a Special Opportunities School teacher for elementary aged children whose behaviors significantly impacted their learning. She currently works as a Behavior Specialist and Special Education teacher in the Positive Approach for Student Success program at the Junior High School level. Additionally, Michelle is pursuing certification to become a registered play therapist.
Michelle completed her practicum at Krause Children’s Residential Treatment Center where she facilitated weekly groups and individual psychotherapy. Examples of the challenges faced by the children and adolescents Michelle has worked with include self-esteem issues, chemical dependence, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Grief and Bereavement, Conduct Disorder, and victims of physical and emotional abuse. She incorporates a variety of techniques in her counseling such as conflict resolution, anger management, social skills training, play therapy, problem solving, and calming techniques.
In an atmosphere of unconditional positive regard Michelle provides a safe place for individuals to explore their challenges and make steps towards positive changes in their lives.
