Play Therapy Training

Thinking about becoming a Registered Play Therapist or advancing your work with children?  Innovations Counseling is now offering APT approved trainings to the public.  For more information please see below for frequently asked questions:

How many training hours are needed to become a RPT?
The Association for Play Therapy (APT) requires 150 training hours specific to Play Therapy to become a Registered Play Therapist.

What are the benefits of becoming a play therapist?
The Association for play therapy is a national professional society established in 1982 that supports the work of mental health therapists with children. Through advanced research and training the RPT learns effective methods to improve their work with children.

If I am a graduate student or mental health intern can I count my APT approved CEU’s toward the 150 training hours?
Yes.  If you receive training from an APT approved site you can start counting the hours even while you are in school.

Can I get 150 training hours in any play therapy topics?
APT requires you to follow a syllabus for trainings and our play therapy trainings will follow that syllabus (see www.a4pt.org for more RPT requirements).

We are excited to be APT Approved CEU providers.
